Big Boy

Royce turned 4 months on Sunday! Super crazy how much he is growing. We went to the Dr. on Monday and he weighs 13lb 6oz and is 24 3/4in tall. That puts him in the 25th percent for weight and 50th percent for length. He looks chubbier than 25% to me, but oh well.

We took his 4 month pictures, which he was totally stoked about. As you can see.

Here's him getting a little more used to the idea.

And here's my most handsome boy! I want to squeeze him to peices.

Milestones

So last Sunday this little man got blessed in church. I was nervous he was going to rip it in the middle of his blessing ( he is quite a little ripper, sorry Royce) but he did so good! He did a little chatting but he was such a good boy.
Scott was kind enough to take some pictures of us since we were all dressed up, and I actually really liked this one. There are not many pictures from the past 2 months of anything besides Royce. Not that I mind, at all, but it's probably good to get mom and dad in a couple every once in a while.

I decided to ask Scott to take pictures every month on the same chair, like I've seen on other blogs. So this one is one of his 1 month pictures. Oh so handsome.

And this is one of his 2 month pictures. So much bigger! And Scott didn't even have to photo shop him for hours to try to get rid of his baby acne like the first month. Yay that he's grown out of that! Not so cute.
And these are a couple more from the same night. He thinks he is so big!

Seriously, precious. I hope I'm not annoying that I only blog to put pictures of him on here, but
I'm a mom and I'm obsessed. Whaa he's getting so big! I'm liking that he is sleeping more at night (sometimes 5 hours at a time! Whoo hoo!) But I'm not so excited that he's growing so fast. I'm excited that he is reacting more to things around him, but sad that he's not just a teeny baby. We went to the doctor yesterday and he weighed 10lbs 12oz! Such a big boy. Anyways, we love him and are having so much fun!

Mr. Royce

So I thought I would get to posting pictures of baby Royce a lot sooner than now, but turns out being a mom takes a lot of time and energy. Luckily my brother in law Scott quite enjoys taking pictures because we now haves lots and lots from the hospital and lots since being home too. There's not a lot to say about the pictures, just that he is cute and we love him!

Me holding him at the hospital.
Sweet sleepy boy.

Sleepy black and white.
Big yawns

Miss Mariah loves her new cousin! I was a little nervous there might be some jealousy but she just loves to look at him and kiss his head. She is such a good helper too. She loves to give him his blanket and put in his binky.

This is just a couple days ago, asleep on the floor.

Grandma Kay came over and played for a while and Scott got a couple really precious pictures. Like this one.

And perhaps my favorite. Could you die at that face? Seriously kills me.

The finished product

Ok so I'm almost a week past my due date and I am just now putting up some pictures of the finished nursery but I promise we were actually done with it 2 days before the due date. We are very on top of things and prepared.

My dear friend Erica came over and helped me place a few things around the room. I thought I was prepared for her to come over but I guess I thought I had a lot more stuff than I did. So she worked with what I gave her and only one f bomb was dropped. Pretty impressive. She made that frame with chicken wire in like 5 minutes.

Pictures are a little out of order, this one is just what it looks like when you first walk in the room. He has lots of books that I'm excited to read him. Maybe my kids will enjoy reading more than I do.
Erica also hung the little arrangement on the wall and I love it! Like I said, I really didn't have much to work with so I was a little nervous but I really really like the way it turned out.

Then my mother in law and grandma in law came over to help me make the crib bumper. I think it was a little more work than we all bargained for. Luckily Kay is a master seemstress and Grandma Guttery has an eye for design, because I really like the way it turned out. I somehow managed to cut the fabric so wrong that when we were done and putting it on the crib there was a good foot of extra bumber. My math skills need sharpened. So Grandma G. suggested we just rotate it and Kay was able to trim the ends to make everything fit and I actually like it better than the original plan!

So anyways, that is the nursery. If I don't go into labor today on my own then I will be checking into the hospital at 7:30 tomorrow morning to be induced. I'm very nervous but so SO excited! Wish me luck, my Dr. says it will likely be a long process since my baby apparently thinks my body is a really good house and doesn't see the need to come out. Sorry baby

Slowly but surely

Me and Chad live in a 2 bedroom condo. Not too much space. Since we've been married the 2nd bedroom has been an office/craft room/storage/crap room. It was the room that I would throw the stuff that I didn't know what the heck to do with into. When we found out we were pregnant, we knew we were going to have to turn that room into a baby nursery and we pretty much put it off as long as we could. This is the room once we pulled all the junk out of every nook and cranny. Yikes.
Well, we made the walk-in closet into the new "office" which means it is teensy tiny. Also means that we had to purge and organize all the stuff we had been ignoring for 2 years. I'll post before and after pictures of that later.

So we got the room to an empty space so Chad could paint. We decided to do a wall of stipes and I just have to say I'm lucky Chad is more patient than I am.

He used a laser level to make the lines as straight as possible and put up frog tape to make the stripes, which we learned about from Erica. That was the hard part. Once that was up the painting went really fast.

And here is the finished product! He still needs to do the crown and base so the top and bottom will be clean. I love it! Opinion, should we do the other wall striped too or just the one wall? I'm so excited to be able to put our baby stuff in the room so I can have my living room back.

Also, I had my baby shower over the weekend and I was hair brained and forgot to ask someone to take pictures. So this is 1 of 2 pictures taken after the shower was over. Sad. But it was really fun to see everyone and open all my loot!

Hawaii. A little late.

So last month Chad's parents took the family to Hawaii. We went to Maui and it was AMAZING. I definitely want to go back as much as possible.
I've had a pretty hard time uploading pictures to blogger and I hated to do it because I could only do 4 pictures at a time. Then my really smart friend Erica told me to just upload 4 at a time then do it again until I had all the pictures I wanted. How did that never cross my mind? Not sure. So now this will be one of those annoying posts with a thousand pictures! Yes!
So my pictures are a little out of order but you won't know the difference so who cares? This is one our way up to the volcano. I'm probably not going to insert the names of the places we went to because most of the places sound the same to me and I certainly don't know how to spell them. Anyways, very pretty drive. We were in the clouds (not romantically dork) for a few hours. This part of the island has ranches and horses and stuff so that was fun to see. I don't really think cowboy when I think of Hawaii.

Here's Chad's parents at the Banyan? tree in one of the towns. That is the original trunk but the danglies coming down from the branches go down to the ground and become trunks too. So the tree ends up having tons of trunks. Pretty neat.

Here is the beach that was right outside of our condo. It was perhaps one of the best parts of the trip. After we would get home from a long adventurous day we could just walk down to the little beach and watch the sun come down sipping a diet coke.

A little side story: My older sister Becca has a thing about textures. She cannot handle weird textures like at all. One Christmas when we were in Sierra Vista we went to Kartchner Caverns and I was walking next to Becca and she said she felt light headed when we were next to the "popcorn wall" so I went to tell my parents and I turned around and she was on the ground. My dad was holding her up but she was limp and gone. So they had to wheel her out and try to find a throw up bag for her so she didn't contaminate the "living cave". She almost made it out.
So anyways, I saw this wall in Hawaii and decided to take a picture for her.
You're welcome Bec. And it's kind of for you too Erica. And Eloise.

One night me and Chad took the minivan and went to find some shaved ice. Ever since I went a few years ago with cousies Kimbi and Holly I have been a little on the obsessed side. Like when Chad's parents told us we were going to Hawaii my first thought was not the beach, it was of sweet delicious shaved ice. The first one I got the day after we got there was a total let down. Basically it was a snow cone. Still tasty but I began to think I was crazy for my obsession. But the night me and Chad went we partook of the sweetest ambrosia I have ever tasted. My mouth is watering. I forgot to take a picture probably because I was busy inhaling my treat. Anyways, the town was really cute and we were offered weed more than once. I thought you could tell I was pregnant but maybe not?
One day was spent on the road to Hana, which is basically like a thirty mile drive that takes about 7 hours. It was really pretty and we took our time getting there so we could stop and take pictures and walks and what not.

For some reason Austin kept ending up on top of the van.
Sometimes I wish I had one of those brutally honest husbands so that I didn't end up with 32 picture in beautiful surroundings with me in this unfortunate ensamble. Seriously, the day I take millions of pictures this is what I'm wearing. Ugh

We walked to this really pretty and tall waterfall. Not going to lie, I thought I was going to die on the hike. But thanks to my crocs (I seriously bought crocs for the trip. Lol) i made it in one piece. You can't tell how tall it is in this picture but I think it was like 400 feet or something. Chad made me stand under it and I felt like I was being sprayed with a fire hose.

This is the boys getting on the boat for their scuba trip. I decided after snorkeling that I have no desire to scuba. Snorkeling is definitely enough ocean life for me. Me and the parents went to the beach and layed out while they were gone. Definitely more up my ally.

And here we are just hanging out. There were some surfers so we watched them for a little while.
Seriously so much fun. We also did a kayaking tour. We got in our little boats and paddled around and got out to snorkel and swim with the turtles...and SHARKS! Yes I saw a shark and was only like 15 feet from it. Our guide said to not be afraid of them so I stayed pretty calm. For some reason I always trust strangers. Probably not the best idea. Me and Chad were the only ones to flip our boat, probably because I have a strong sense of balance and coordination. Anyways, sorry this is freaking long. You probably didn't even make it to the end. Don't lie.

September?

I have a lot of catching up to do! August was crazy with birthdays so I'll just post about the most important (mariah's). No offense everyone else. And we went to Hawaii last week with Chad's family so I need to post about that! If anyone can let me know how to upload more than 3 pictures per post that would be great. Have a lovely day.
